Hello and Welcome to the monthly Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop. This month’s theme is showcasing our own favourite technique. You are currently visiting Sandra here in Norfolk, UK and I hope you enjoy seeing my technique.
I’m really excited about todays ‘hop’ around the globe as I LOVE techniques. My only problem was, which one should I feature, when you have so many favourites ?
I have recently held two Totally Techniques Retreats and both groups of attendees thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Lots of messy hands, lots of fun and very productive weekend for all concerned.
For my share with you today, I have decided on the Black Ice Technique. This really is much simpler than it looks !
I started with a piece of Foil Sheet to the size I wanted my finished piece to be. Black Stazon ink pad was gently swiped across the foil surface, paying attention to swiping in from outside edges. I was not trying to cover the surface, just swiping black lines and edges, before drying with a Heat Tool.
Next I stamped my chosen image in Black Stazon ink pad too and again dried with a Heat Tool.
Lastly, I covered my dried image with Versamark ink pad all over and then covered the entire piece with Clear Embossing powder. Excess Embossing Powder was tapped off and again melted with Heat Tool.
Before assembling card, I stamped sentiments from Itty Bitty Greetings towards the outer edge of my middle mat layer and punched using the Classic Label Punch.
The Embossing folders used here were Corregated and Lace Dynamic. I’ve realised that the Corrugated retired with the Autumn Winter catalogue, however the Simple Stripes or any other Textured Embossing Folder would work just as well.
I hope you have enjoyed seeing how this technique turns out. Great for making batches of card toppers like this while all the materials are out, to use on cards later.

Awesome examples of a beautiful technique!
Thank you, love this one, give it a go !
such a beautiful card and wonderful technique! I have been too afraid to give it a try but it looks really doable ! 🙂
And good news, the corrugated embossing folder is carrying over to the new year catalog! YAY !
Thanks, definitely give it a go, you’ll be pleased you did. I had EIGHT in a class do it yesterday and loved it !
Stunning cards Sandra and a very interesting technique, TFS
Thanks Jo x
Thanks, it really is easy one to do.
Gorgeous cards, another technique I haven’t tried and must get around to!
Thank you. Pleased you enjoyed x
These cards are really stunning! Can you do this technique with classic stampin ink?
Thank you. The foil card is shiny so it needs to be a Permanent ink like Stazon. By all means give it a go on a little scrap of foil but I don’t think it’ll work.:-(
This technique is on my list! Now I just bumped it to the top. I have the pressed flowers stamp set and will give that a go. TFS!
